Our Vision

Matter is a Los Angeles-based, female-owned studio committed to intentional architecture and design. We go beyond mere functionality, offering immersive designs with people and the planet as our muses. Our studio is deeply conscious of what we put into the world, striving to make enduring design choices that create narratives with depth and intrigue.

Our Philosophy

We believe that thoughtful design creates the most beautiful and tactile environments—unique to experience, yet timeless and rooted. By radically embracing nature, we create grounded work that blurs the lines between interior and exterior.

Our Approach

  • Collaboration: We love to collaborate and design spaces fueled by meaning and tangible value. We do a lot of listening, so we can build uniquely tailored spaces for our clients.

  • Research-Driven: Our approach consistently draws inspiration from the past with an eye to the future, helping us create spaces that nourish the human experience in a unique way. We are constantly using improved technologies and details to ensure enduring and thoughtful architecture that lasts.

  • California-Inspired: We are inspired by the eclectic fabric and history of California, drawing upon its vast natural landscapes and built identities in our work.

Our Commitment

At Matter, we're dedicated to sustainable practices and creating environments that stand the test of time. Our team brings years of experience and a fresh perspective to every project, ensuring each design is as unique as our clients.
